About Tim Sampson
President & CEO
Sampson Metal Consulting LLC
As a former scrap-yard owner with more than twenty years of hands-on industry experience, Tim learned the scrap business from the ground up. His journey began in 1993 after earning an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. Shortly afterward, he accepted a corporate banking position with PNC Bank in Pittsburgh, PA. His background in Finance and Accounting laid the foundation for what would become a long career in the scrap-metal industry.

After gaining valuable corporate-banking experience, he joined the family scrap-recycling business, Goodman Services, Inc., in Bradford, PA. The yard was in need of operational upgrades, capital improvements, and modern processing equipment.
By 2001, the property had expanded to 12 acres and included a 10-car rail siding with concrete loading bays and upgraded roadways. New ferrous baling and shearing equipment increased the processing capabilities to over 50,000 tons annually. In 2002, they added a new HRB baler and renovated the non-ferrous processing plant, enabling the yard to handle more than 10 million pounds of non-ferrous scrap each year. Their growth continued with the addition of three full-service feeder yards across Western New York and Pennsylvania.
In 2011, Tim led the successful sale of the company to Metalico, a publicly traded scrap processor, and remained with the organization for three years to manage operations. In 2014, he transitioned into full-time scrap trading with Moskowtiz Brothers (later acquired by Cohen USA), and Skyline International Corp. Throughout his trading career, he has built relationships with some of the nation's leading recycling companies. Presently, Tim continues to work closely with Skyline International Corp. as a joint venture to purchase scrap for their 2 facilities in Columbus, OH and Charleston, SC.
